What is the best DNS for gaming?
DNS can affect how quickly names are resolved and how reliably services are found, but it usually does not control your in-match ping.

Choose DNS for reliability and resolution speed—not promises of magically lower game ping.
Once a game has resolved and connected to a server, traffic normally flows directly to that server. Your ISP route, server location, congestion, Wi-Fi and queueing usually matter more for live latency.
Cloudflare 1.1.1.1
A widely used public resolver with a large global network. It can be a sensible alternative if your ISP resolver is unreliable.
Google Public DNS
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are established public resolvers and useful for comparison testing.
Your ISP DNS may already be fastest
A nearby ISP resolver can perform perfectly well. There is no universal DNS that is fastest from every location.
DNS is not the game route
Changing DNS generally does not reroute the packets between your PC and an already-connected game server.
Use repeatable tests
If you compare resolvers, keep the same device, connection and destination. Normal latency variation can be larger than the DNS difference.
Fix ping at the real source
For high in-game latency, investigate Wi-Fi, loaded upload queues, server region and ISP routing before expecting DNS to solve it.
