Performance, not guesswork

Test your connection for gaming lag.

Lag is not one number. Measure speed, latency, jitter and packet loss together to find the weak point.

ONLINE GAMING LAG TEST

A good gaming connection should be responsive and consistent, not just fast.

High ping adds delay, jitter makes that delay inconsistent and packet loss means some traffic never arrives. Test all three alongside download and upload speed before deciding what to change.

High ping creates noticeable delay

Latency is the round-trip travel time between your device and a network destination. Higher latency can make online actions feel less immediate.

Jitter causes spikes and inconsistency

Two connections can have the same average ping but feel very different if one regularly jumps between low and high latency.

Packet loss can be more disruptive than speed

Dropped packets may cause teleporting, stutters, voice-chat glitches or missing game-state updates even when the Mbps result is excellent.

Uploads can cause bufferbloat-style symptoms

When the upstream link is saturated by backups, video uploads or other devices, game packets may wait behind larger transfers and latency can rise sharply.

Compare Wi-Fi and Ethernet

If a wired test removes the spikes, focus on signal quality, interference, router placement or mesh configuration rather than buying a faster package.

Repeat tests instead of trusting one result

Run several tests at different times. A connection that varies significantly across tests may have a congestion or wireless consistency problem.
